Comic Book That You Should Be Reading Pt 3

I am back with another comic book that you should be reading. That is assuming of course that you are allowed to read mature content. And by mature I mean language and violence. If you can then be prepared to have your socks knocked off.
I am talking about the new comic called "DMZ".
It is written by Brian Wood and illustrated by Riccardo Burchielli and published by Vertigo Comics, which is an imprint of DC Comics. It is non super-hero related.
Imagine this scenario.
There has been a second American Civil War. The Free States vs the United States of America.
Let me read for you the opening paragraph of the book.
"...Today marks the fifth anniversary of the initial outbreak of hostilities between the United States of America and the so-called "Free States." It is also the third day of a tentative ceasefire, and despite all predictions, it appears to be holding"
So, as you might notice one side ahs access to the media here. What with the press calling them the "so-called" Free States.
Oh by the way, the DMZ in this book? Manhattan Island. Population 400,000.
This book is only 3 issues old so far, and already I keep jonesing for the next issue. No book has had me this excited since Ex Machina. And long time readers will remember that Ex Machina is a comic book that I highly recommend.
So, stop by your local comic book shop and check out DMZ.
You will like it.

D'oh

Well, the Pittsburgh Steelers kept up their part of the bargain in these NFL playoffs.
I had been hoping that the Steelers would beat the Colts and the Patriots would beat the Broncos. That way, the AFC championship game would have been in New England.
Damn Broncos and those stupid 5 turnovers.
Grrr.
Oh well, there is always next year.
Hey, I am a Cubs fan after all. We invented the 'next year' line.
Double grrrr.

AFC Divisional Playoff Game

I just want to urge everyone who actually reads this blog to support the Patriots in their game tonight against the Denver Broncos.
The Pats are on a quest to win their third consecutive Super Bowl.
Go Patriots!!!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone surprised anymore?

I have been loosely listening to the news updates regarding the Alito hearings for his position on the Supreme Court.
I have absolutely not been surprised to listen to the reactions of everyone concerned.
The Democrats are feeling suspicious about him.
The Republicans are feeling good about him.
I can guarantee you one thing. If this were a Democratic president and Alito, or whoever, was his guy, then you can bet your ass that the roles would be reversed with these two parties.
Everytyhing always plays out the same. Republicans support everything that Bush does, while the Democrats chastise everything that Bush does.
At this point I do not care about either party.
There is too much senseless bickering going on in DC. Ooh, the White House was quick to try and say that the Democrats were going to far in their questioning of Alito when his wife walked out of the hearings crying.
Blah blah blah.
Just shut up and do your damn job. Don't worry about stupid crap.
Man, I hate politicians.
